Every year, the capital of Costa Rica, San José, is transformed into a vibrant stage full of lights, music and Christmas spirit. The Light Festival, one of the most awaited events by the population, returns this 2024 with its 27th edition, promising to be an unforgettable spectacle for all ages.
An Event Full of Emotion
The magic will begin on Saturday, December 14 at 3:00 p.m. with the traditional parade, which will bring the streets of San José to life with a parade full of color and joy. At 6:00 p.m., the main event will begin, a display of creativity that combines illuminated floats, musical bands and artistic presentations that will delight attendees.
This edition is guaranteed by the Municipality of San José to stand out for its energy and the vibrant participation of urban collectives, businesses, families and local artists. Every detail is designed to create a unique atmosphere that unites the community in a celebration of Christmas magic.
The Leading Bands
Behind the heart of the festival are the 14 bands that, after a rigorous audition process in September, were selected to participate. These groups will bring their talent and passion to the event, standing out among them:
- San José Municipal Band, host of the festival.
- Municipal Band Café Tarrazú, which will seek to revalidate its title as “The Brightest” obtained in 2023.
- Band Cedes Don Bosco.
- Orotina Community Band.
- Municipal Band of Acosta.
- Nicoya Municipal Band.
- Our Lady of Desamparados Band.
- Tibás Municipal Band.
- Mercedes Marching Band.
- Tsidkenu Christian Band.
- Palmar Norte Community Band.
- Desamparados Municipal Band.
- Pococí Municipal Band.
- Communal Band La Fortuna.
These groups were evaluated by national and international judges, standing out for their creativity and musical quality.
