The Cultural Center of Spain in Barrio Escalante, San José, will host a unique workshop aimed at curatorial and cultural management professionals in the visual arts, as well as artists, mediators, and activists. This event, which will take place on Thursday, August 22 from 6pm to 9pm, is open to the public without prior registration.

Organized by the LAB CCE program within the framework of the Profesión Cultura project, the workshop seeks to foster exchange among cultural agents in Central America. Focused on curatorship and contemporary art, the main objective is to stimulate creative processes through experimentation and research.

Features of the Project.

The lecture-workshop offers an overview of the role of the curator, covering her functions and the multiple possibilities offered by the curatorial exercise. Through a combination of theory and practice, it seeks to show how curatorship not only organizes exhibitions, but also connects contexts in a constant dialogue. Facilitator Nerea Ubieto will address real cases of artists and exhibitions. In this way, she will provide inspiring examples that will allow attendees to reflect on their own practices and trajectories.

Also, the workshop will include strategies to guide the artistic discourse, how to present works effectively and how to obtain visibility in fairs and galleries. At the same time, methods for disseminating work on digital platforms such as websites and social networks.

The Cultural Center of Spain with the Facilitator: Nerea Ubieto.

Nerea Ubieto, a renowned independent curator and art critic, holds a degree in Art History from the University of Zaragoza and a Master’s degree in Art Market and Appraisal. Resident in Madrid, she has worked both in the private and institutional spheres, standing out for generating productive relationships with diverse artistic agents.

She has curated multiple exhibitions both in Spain and internationally, and has directed lecture series and workshops.

His recent exhibitions include ” The unarmed eye” at Casal Solleric (Palma de Mallorca), “Chrysalis” at the Museum of Genalguacil, and “Scopic Tensions” at Etopia Art and Technology Center in Zaragoza, among many others.

With an extensive career that ranges from criticism in media such as ABC Cultural to the curatorship of major exhibitions, Ubieto will share his experience and knowledge with workshop participants, providing useful tools and innovative approaches in the field of curatorship and cultural management.
