Italian Film Festival in San José
From May 8 to 12, lovers of Italian cinema and culture in Costa Rica have an unmissable date: the Italian Film Festival in San José. This event, which will be held at the emblematic Cine Magaly, offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the richness of contemporary Italian cinema, with a selection of films carefully chosen to suit all tastes.
The opening of the festival, scheduled for May 8 at 6:00 PM, promises to be an unforgettable event with a cocktail reception hosted by the Italian Embassy in Costa Rica. The film that will kick off the festival is “There is still tomorrow”, a work by the talented actress and writer Paola Cortellesi, who also stars in the film. This film, which caused a sensation in Italy, outselling major blockbusters, offers a fresh and touching look at life and its challenges.
Throughout the five-day festival, moviegoers will have the opportunity to enjoy four masterpieces of contemporary Italian cinema. Besides, some screenings will include the participation of the renowned Italian-Costa Rican critic Mario Giacomelli, who will conduct cineforums to further enrich the cinematic experience.
The festival’s program is as follows:
Wednesday, May 8: Opening with “C’è ancora domani”. A cocktail reception will begin at 6:00 PM, followed by the screening at 7:00 PM, which includes a cineforum hosted by Mr. Giacomelli.
Friday, May 10: “Io Capitano” at 3:15 PM. “Comandante” at 6:00 PM, with cineforum by Mr. Giacomelli.
Saturday, May 11: “La Chimera” at 5:40 PM. “C’è ancora domani” at 8:30 PM.
Sunday, May 12: “Comandante” at 4:00 PM. “La Chimera” at 6:40 PM, with cineforum by Mr. Giacomelli.
