“Absence Creativity” by Rossella Matamoros
Absence Creativity.
The exhibition hall La Reforma Social hosts “Absence Creativity,” a powerful showcase by artist Rossella Matamoros that highlights the distressing reality many young people face today. The exhibition delves into the processes that lead to anxiety, depression, and hopelessness in teenagers, offering a message of support and hope.
True Stories & Collective Reflections
Matamoros, with a career spanning more than 35 years and more than 150 exhibitions internationally, uses her art to address issues of vital social importance. On this occasion, the artist shares real experiences of young people who have participated in workshops, presenting their stories through a combination of visual works. This collective narrative seeks to raise awareness about the difficulties faced by adolescents, highlighting how factors such as the consumption of psychoactive substances and abuse in its various forms contribute to an emotional crisis in youth.
By sharing real examples of the struggles they face, the exhibition becomes a space for prevention and awareness of contemporary issues such as social media abuse and substance abuse. This not only helps young people feel understood, but also seeks to generate a dialogue about these critical issues.
A Call for Action
The exhibition does not simply portray hopelessness; it also stands as a call to action. Matamoros highlights the interconnection between poverty, educational disadvantages, and the impact these factors have on young people’s mental health. By sharing these experiences, the artist aims to raise alarms and promote greater social awareness about the situation of today’s youth.
Absence Creativity is presented as a refuge of empathy and a catalyst for change. The exhibition will be open to the public until November 30, offering everyone the opportunity to connect with these realities and reflect on the future of youth.
